Sleepreviva.com is a division of AlertForce Pty Limited. AlertForce is the parent company of various different brands associated with sleep and fatigue management.
The group started life as MetroNaps, a company started in New York marketing daytime sleep centres in 2004. It was a retail centre where tired workers could take a 20-minute power nap to recharge their batteries. The Australian business obtained a license in 2005 and started marketing sleep pods in Australia and New Zealand.
It was a hard sell although we managed to get a lot of publicity in the newspapers, TV and radio. After 18 months of operations, we decided we needed to broaden the scope of our services or we would be out of business very soon. We came across a need to educate Australian shift workers, particularly in the transport industry as in 2008 there was government legislation mandating this. There are now other industries interested in training their staff about sleep including mining, health, transport, rail, manufacturing, ports (fatigue management training).
One of the other benefits of having a business with so much publicity meant that we forged strong relationships with many people in the world of sleep. One of the brands that we came across was pzizz. We loved and believed in the product so much that we decided to start telling the world all about it.
The fallout from not getting enough sleep means that workers are more prone to accidents in and out of the workplace and problems with their health in the short and long term. For business this means increased costs through: workplace health and safety accidents, errors, sickness and absence as well as lost productivity.
In January 2009 we relaunched the company under the new name of AlertForce which will be the parent company for all of our brands. AlertForce is an online fatigue management company.
